Todos Santos Community Unites at Elegant Christmas Posada, Raising Critical Funds for Alianza Cero Basura AC

The spirit of community and environmental stewardship shone brightly last night at the Hotel San Cristóbal, which hosted a magical Christmas Posada Fundraiser in support of Alianza Cero Basura BCS A.C. (Zero Waste Alliance). The event, held on December 10, brought together donors, business leaders, and local advocates for an evening of tradition, fine dining, and philanthropy, successfully raising funds for the nonprofit’s vital programs in Todos Santos and El Pescadero.

The evening, masterfully emceed by Verónica Ruiz Chiu, blended festive tradition with a powerful call to action. Guests were treated to a refined three-course dinner by Chef Jorge Cuadros, featuring organic, local produce from Salgado’s. They participated in a traditional Posada procession led by Mexican soprano Liliana del Conde and experienced the joy of opening piñatas.

A central focus of the night was a silent auction featuring donated artwork from internationally acclaimed artists Carlos Díaz Castro and Alain Fernández Ferreira, alongside exclusive local experiences donated by Hotel San Cristobal, Villa Santa Cruz, Hotel Guaycura, Modern Elder Academy, Desierto Azul and Todos Santos Eco Adventures. All proceeds will directly fund Alianza Cero Basura BCS’s educational initiatives and community programs aimed at waste reduction and sustainability.

In a heartfelt presentation, Carla Ramirez, Executive Director of Alianza Cero Basura BCS highlighted the organization’s tangible impact. “In our community, we see every piece of waste as a misplaced resource. Thanks to growing local partnerships, we are creating a culture where reducing, separating, and repurposing waste is the norm, ” stated Ramirez.

She celebrated local businesses like Hotel San Cristóbal for diverting approximately 70% of their waste from landfills and acknowledged Water Ways Baja for helping the community avoid over 50,000 single-use plastic bottles.

The event underscored deep community collaboration. The organization extended its profound gratitude to Hotel San Cristóbal as the principal sponsor for providing the venue, culinary team, and unwavering support. Additional thanks went to sponsors Tequila Loco, Cactus Wines, Teravino, Travesías DMC & Viajes, and Todos Santos Adventures, as well as to DJ Chachín for the evening’s music.

“We stand at a critical juncture in our town’s development, ” concluded Carla Ramirez during her address. “This is our commitment: we will work side by side with you for the cleaner, healthier future we all deserve. Now is the time to put the systems in place. And together, we will get it done.”

The evening concluded with the joyful breaking of a Christmas piñata, final bids in the silent auction, and a stunning second musical performance by Liliana del Conde, sending guests home with holiday cheer and a renewed sense of shared purpose.

Alianza Cero Basura BCS A.C.: It is a non-profit organization dedicated to creating a cleaner, more sustainable future for the communities of Todos Santos and El Pescadero. Through education, practical waste diversion programs, and community collaboration, it works on three key fronts: building a culture of waste reduction, helping homes and businesses find second lives for materials, and managing an Organic Waste Program to transform kitchen and garden waste into healthy soil. The organization believes in empowering the community to view waste not as trash, but as a resource.
