A huge shout of thanks to local entrepreneur, environmental steward, and Salinity Swimwear founder Angie Zancanaro for donating a share of her monthly profits to Alianza Cero Basura!

Angie Zancanaro lived in Todos Santos for seven years as a successful jewelry maker before she answered the call of the sea. And when she answered she didn’t give the sea just a timid hello; she chucked in the jewelry business, went all the way through the Dive Master and Instructor programs for scuba diving, and found herself spending more time on boats and in the ocean than on land. “And that is how Salinity Swimwear was born” recalls Angie. “It was my own personal need for clothing to protect me from this intense Baja sun that we have. I wasn’t finding anything out there that resonated with me as a person in love with the ocean, so I decided to start designing patterns and making the clothes myself.”
Inspired by the marine life she encounters daily in the oceans of Baja – whales, dolphins, sea lions, sea turtles, sharks and more – Angie created over 25 different marine animal patterns for Salinity Swimwear and they now adorn Salinity’s swimsuits, leggings, rashgards, sunshirts and windbreakers. All clothing items have 50 SPF protection built into the fabric.

Angie’s clothing doesn’t just protect the humans that wear it, but also the marine life depicted on it. Each piece in the collection is crafted from upcycled waste materials – including lots of coastal plastic – thereby reducing the amount of waste that reaches the ocean and giving discarded plastics a second life as quality swimwear. In addition, all her designs are made to order, so there is no wasteful excess production, no unsold items sent to landfills.
Thank you Angie for your support of the environment and for helping Alianza Cero Basura create the first zero waste community in Mexico! https://salinityswimwear.com
